Nigeria earned N2.512 trillion from the export of petroleum products in three months, between April and June 2015, according to data released yesterday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The NBS, in its Foreign Trade Statistics for the Second Quarter of 2015, also stated that Nigeria recorded total merchandise trade of N4.372 trillion and a trade surplus of N1.4 trillion in the month under review.
The amount the country earned from petroleum products sale in the second quarter of 2015 is 56.8 per cent of the country’s N4.49 trillion 2015 budget.

Operatives of the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, have arrested 21 suspects and destroyed six illegal refineries in Delta, Edo and Bayelsa States.
The troops also arrested suspects for various criminal activities in the region ranging from oil theft, kidnapping, piracy and illegal oil bunkering.

The reinstated Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi has officially taken over the leadership of the agency for the second time.
Abdulahi took over from Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero who he handed over to two months ago.
Recall that in May President Goodluck Jonathan removed Abdulahi as the NPA Managing Director and appointed Bayero as his replacement.
